More than 2000 villagers from Makoni recently thronged Makoni Rural Government hospital and several other centres to receive free medical treatment and consultation proudly sponsored by TelOne under its Community Health Programme.
The community health programme is part of TelOne’s Corporate Social Responsibility which aims to impact lives through supporting construction of community health access clinics as well as through the supply of medication to hospitals.
The Makoni villagers were grateful and expressed gratitude to TelOne for the lifesaving gesture stating that donated medicines will sustain the hospital which was struggling to get medicine.
One of the beneficiaries said, “I want to thank God and TelOne family for providing medicines to our hospital. It has been a challenge to get transport money and visit pharmacies as well as money to buy medication in Rusape and Mutare. My family got the opportunity to receive treatment today for free after consulting several prophets and traditional healers due to lack of money”.
“TelOne has brought relief to us as the villagers and we thank its management for such work. TelOne is helping villagers under the banner “Connecting People and Building Communities,” another villager said.
TelOne started by investing in a healthy workforce through investing in a workplace wellness programme that benefited its staff members and it is now spreading its wings by connecting people and building communities.
Other than Makoni, TelOne also donated medicines to Rusape hospital.
