The Sally Mugabe Hospital project is part of the interventions by the two companies in response to the COVID-19 pandemic under which ZWL$10 million was mobilized to support Government efforts in fighting the pandemic.
The project saw the refurbishment and furnishing of the 42-bed Ward A1, the drilling of three boreholes, and provision of critical hospital equipment at the hospital. This is further to the donation of an assortment of Personal Protective Equipment earlier this year.
Also handed over during the event was hospital equipment sourced and shipped by TelOne support from an American NGO, MATTER.
Speaking at the event, TelOne Managing Director said the collaboration between the two companies goes beyond the current project as the companies have over the last few years strengthened their business collaboration.
Guest of Honour, First Lady Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa commended the effort saying “The hard work I have witnessed here today is most pleasing especially as it depicts how collaborative effort can easily help us to rebuild and capacitate health facilities countrywide. On that note, let me commend the two state-owned institutions TelOne and NetOne for coming up with this exemplary initiative. This is certainly the way to go if indeed we want to achieve more and get our health system back on track.”
The handover event was also attended by Minister of ICT, Postal and Couriers Services, Hon. J. Muswere, Deputy Minister of Health and Child care Dr. J. Mangwiro among other dignitaries.
