TelOne Managing Director Mrs Chipo Mtasa and Karoi Business Performance Supervisor, Mr. Shephard Tom handing over the bin donation to Kariba Mayor, Cllr Tracey Ndoro
TelOne recently donated 100 litter bins to Kariba Municipality as part of the continuous drive by the company to support cleanliness in all cities and towns in Zimbabwe.
Kariba is the latest beneficiary after Harare, Bulawayo, Mutare, Nyanga, Masvingo, Beitbridge, Victoria Falls, Esigodini and Chinhoyi. The stop at Kariba has brought the total bins donated to date under the programme to 1400 at a total cost of $50,000.
A tree planting exercise was also conducted to coincide with the bin donation under the TelOne Plant-A-Tree programme, an addition to the company’s social investment and sustainable business practice. The Plant-A-Tree programme has been born out of the need to rehabilitate the environment where TelOne over the years has impacted through its operational needs.
Kariba Mayor Councilor Tracey Ndoro applauded TelOne for the bin donation and tree planting which she said will enhance their drive to clean Kariba and create an environment conducive for tourism and business.
The Provide-A-Bin programme is targeting to have donated 2000 bins to more than 15 municipalities by December 2017 while the Plant-A-Tree programme is targeting to plant 56,000 trees by December 2017.
